Game Recap
Lightning edge Wild 4-3 in a one-goal game that left nothing to argue about on the scoreboard
Tampa Bay walked out of Minnesota with the two points, and the final score says it all: four goals for the Lightning, three for the Wild, and a game close enough that one bounce or one save could have flipped it. That's what a one-goal game looks like. Nobody gets to pretend it was a blowout or a total collapse.
Give Tampa credit for doing what good teams do, which is answering when it matters. Four goals on the road is a healthy total, and the Lightning didn't need a runaway to get the job done. Minnesota fought to stay in it, scoring three times and keeping the door cracked until the final whistle. That's more than a lot of home teams manage when the visitors show up organized.
Is it a satisfying result for the Wild faithful? Probably not. Three goals at home should feel like a real chance, and the sting will linger because one-goal losses have a way of turning into "what if" conversations on the drive home. But this isn't a franchise-altering loss. It was a tight game between two teams that wanted it, and that's the kind of hockey that keeps standings interesting.
The scoreboard says Lightning. Everything else is noise until the next game.
