Game Recap
Lightning Get Buried in Colorado Avalanche
The Tampa Bay Lightning rolled into Ball Arena and promptly got steamrolled, falling 6-3 to an Avalanche squad that looked every bit the Stanley Cup contender. Colorado didn't just win this game—they dominated it from the opening faceoff, turning what could've been a marquee matchup into a statement beatdown.
The Avs came out flying, building momentum early and never letting Tampa establish any rhythm. By the time the Lightning tried mounting a comeback, Colorado had already salted the game away with suffocating puck possession and clinical finishing. Three goals for Tampa sounds respectable on paper, but this one was never really in doubt. The Avalanche controlled play in all three zones, making Jon Cooper's crew look a step slow and badly outmatched in transition.
Credit where it's due: Colorado's depth showed up tonight. When you're hanging six goals on a team that's won back-to-back Cups, you're doing something right across all four lines. Tampa's defensive structure, normally reliable, looked porous against the Avs' speed and creativity.
The Lightning limp out of the Rockies licking their wounds. Meanwhile, Colorado just reminded the entire league why altitude isn't their only advantage. Dominant performance, no contest.
