Lightning Survive Kraken Surge, Edge Seattle 4-3 in Amalie Shootout
So much for goaltending concerns mattering when you can just outscore them. Tampa Bay held off Seattle 4-3 at Amalie Arena, sending our +200 Kraken pick straight to the glue factory despite every metric screaming value.
The Lightning's supposed liability Andrei Vasilevskiy? Forget the .886 coming in—he made enough stops when it counted, while Joey Daccord's "strong" .913 couldn't keep Seattle's three-game win streak alive. Tampa's perfect 3-0 home record stays intact because October home cooking apparently trumps road form, even when you're facing a Kraken squad that had been averaging 4.2 goals away from Climate Pledge.
Seattle pushed hard enough to keep this interesting, potting three against a Tampa defense that's looked shakier than advertised. But the Lightning's offense delivered just enough—four goals proving once again that early-season goalie stats are about as reliable as a used Zamboni. The Kraken's hot streak hits ice in Florida, and we're left holding a worthless ticket despite sound reasoning.
Credit where due: Tampa protected home ice when the numbers said they shouldn't. Sometimes the favorite just wins, even when the value screams otherwise. Doesn't make laying -250 any smarter in hindsight, but the scoreboard doesn't care about our process.
