Mariners Escape Coors Field With Narrow 5-4 Win Over Rockies

MLB

The Mariners walked into Coors Field and did what visiting teams are supposed to do in Denver's launching pad—they survived the chaos and escaped with a 5-4 victory over the Rockies. In a ballpark where runs flow like craft beer on Blake Street, Seattle managed to hold on by the slimmest of margins, proving that sometimes good pitching and timely hitting can overcome altitude-induced madness.

This wasn't a blowout, and it wasn't pretty. The Mariners built just enough cushion to withstand Colorado's inevitable push, because the Rockies always push at home. Credit to Seattle's bullpen for keeping things tight down the stretch—no easy feat when every fly ball threatens to clear the fence. The offense did its job early, stacking up five runs before the Rockies could mount their comeback attempt.

Colorado fought back to within one but couldn't find that equalizer, leaving them frustrated and Seattle relieved. The Mariners improve their road record and prove they can win the tight ones away from T-Mobile Park. For the Rockies, it's another close loss in a season full of them. DarkHorse didn't weigh in on this one, but Seattle backers had to sweat out every final inning.
