Mariners' Miller Meltdown Costs DarkHorse Clean Money

MLB

Well, that was ugly. The Twins walked into Seattle and punched Bryce Miller square in the mouth, hanging five runs on our supposed ace in a 5-3 upset that left DarkHorse backers staring at a -166 hole in their bankroll. So much for that "massive 2.46 ERA advantage."

Miller, who came in sporting a pristine 2.75 ERA and 0.92 WHIP, got absolutely worked by a Minnesota lineup that clearly didn't read the scouting report. Meanwhile, Zebby Matthews—the guy with the bloated 5.21 ERA we were supposed to feast on—did just enough to keep the Twins in front. Seattle's bats couldn't solve him when it mattered, managing only three runs despite the home field edge and our 64-65 percent win probability projection.

The Mariners' brutal 3-7 stretch continues, and honestly, you could see this coming if you squinted hard enough. Minnesota's 6-4 recent form wasn't just noise—it was a warning sign we ignored while obsessing over starter metrics. Sometimes the hot team stays hot, even on the road with their B-tier arm on the bump.

Tough pill to swallow at -166, but that's baseball. Miller's dominance was supposed to be automatic. Instead, the Twins made him look pedestrian and our bankroll took the hit.
