Game Recap

Mariners Slug Past Red Sox 9-6 in Fenway Slugfest

MLB

The Mariners rolled into Fenway and put on an offensive clinic, dropping nine runs on the Red Sox in a 9-6 victory that was more comfortable than the final score suggests. Seattle's bats came alive early and often, building cushion that Boston's late-game rally attempts couldn't overcome. The M's lineup strung together timely hits and capitalized when it mattered, while their pitching staff did just enough to keep the Red Sox at arm's length despite surrendering six runs.

Boston showed some fight in the later innings, scratching across runs to make it interesting, but ultimately couldn't overcome Seattle's early damage. The Red Sox pitching staff got shelled when it counted, and their offense—while productive—was always playing catch-up.

This was the kind of road win Seattle needs to stack if they're serious about postseason noise. Fenway's a tough place to play, but the Mariners made it look routine. Boston, meanwhile, continues to be maddeningly inconsistent—capable of explosive offense one night, leaky pitching the next.

DarkHorse stayed off this one, which is probably wise given how unpredictable both clubs have been lately. Sometimes the smartest bet is no bet at all. Seattle walks away happy; Boston walks away wondering when they'll put a complete game together.
