Marlins Flip the Script in the Desert, Sink DarkHorse Pick

MLB

The Marlins waltzed into Chase Field and delivered a 4-2 gut punch to Arizona, making a mockery of our Diamondbacks -150 call and proving once again that recent momentum means nothing when your offense goes into hibernation. We leaned hard on Michael Soroka's sparkling metrics and that cozy home-field cushion, banking on a 62-63% win probability. Instead, Soroka got outdueled by the journeyman Janson Junk, whose 4.54 ERA suddenly looked Cy Young-caliber compared to Arizona's anemic lineup.

The Diamondbacks managed just two runs—barely enough to buy a hot dog and soda at the concession stand—while Miami's bats did exactly enough damage to cash tickets for the contrarians who remembered that 3-1 season series edge. Arizona's vaunted momentum from yesterday's 8-7 slugfest? Gone. Vanished. Apparently they left all their run production in Wednesday's laundry.

Credit to Miami for playing spoiler and exposing the fatal flaw in our logic: pitcher advantages mean squat when your offense decides to take a siesta. The -150 price implied we had the goods. The final score said we had jack. Tough pill, but that's baseball—sometimes the underdog just bites harder.
