Oilers Survive Goalie Chaos, Send Kraken Packing 3-1
Well, that went sideways in a hurry. DarkHorse backed the Kraken at +170 banking on Edmonton's goaltending dumpster fire, and technically we weren't wrong about the chaos — but somehow the Oilers found a way to win 3-1 anyway, sending our pick straight to the glue factory.
The logic was sound: both clubs on zero rest, Seattle's Joey Daccord riding a .960 save percentage, and Edmonton's starter situation messier than a barn after Derby week. The Kraken were supposed to capitalize on that vulnerability. Instead, they managed exactly one goal — one! — while the Oilers cobbled together three tallies despite whatever Frankenstein goalie arrangement they threw out there. Edmonton's makeshift netminder did just enough, and Seattle's offense went ice-cold at the worst possible time.
Daccord's elite form? Didn't matter when your skaters can't solve a backup-or-worse tender. The fatigue angle played both ways, but Edmonton's depth showed up when it counted. Sometimes the chaos works in your favor, sometimes it doesn't. Tonight it didn't, and we took the loss.
Final tally: Oilers 3, Kraken 1. DarkHorse pick MISSED. Tip your cap to Edmonton's resilience and move on — plenty more races to handicap.
