Orioles Can't Solve Coors, Fall 4-2 as Rockies Snap Home Skid

MLB

Well, that's embarrassing. The Orioles rolled into Coors Field riding a four-game win streak and armed with Kyle Bradish's 2.58 ERA advantage over Gabriel Hughes, only to faceplant 4-2 and hand us a loss on the -140 line. Turns out even a 6.61 ERA looks serviceable when Baltimore's bats go silent in the thin air.

Hughes didn't need to be an ace—he just needed to be good enough, and against an Orioles offense that suddenly forgot how to capitalize on a pitching staff allowing a .288 opponent average, good enough was plenty. The Rockies, winless in seven home tries before tonight, finally cracked the code at Coors and pushed across four runs while their pitching staff—yes, that pitching staff—held Baltimore to two.

Bradish's supposed dominance? Irrelevant when your lineup can't string together rallies. The 7-2 road record and hot streak meant nothing when Colorado's bats woke up just enough to make the difference. Sometimes the worst home team in your sample catches lightning in a bottle, and tonight the Rockies played spoiler while we're left holding a losing ticket. Baltimore's win streak ends at four, and our pick ends in the loss column. Coors Field remains undefeated against logic.
