Panthers Shut Out in Pittsburgh as Penguins Roll 4-0
The Panthers flew into Pittsburgh and promptly forgot how to score, getting blanked 4-0 in a game that was never really close. Florida managed just enough offensive pressure to annoy the locals but not nearly enough to threaten the scoreboard, and the Penguins took full advantage.
Pittsburgh's goaltender was barely tested in what amounted to a light practice session, while the Penguins' offense did exactly what it needed to do—score early, score often, and make Florida chase shadows the rest of the night. The Panthers looked sluggish, disjointed, and frankly outclassed from puck drop to final horn. When you're getting shutout on the road, there's no spinning it as anything other than a complete team failure.
The Penguins controlled tempo, cashed in on their chances, and never let Florida establish any rhythm. Four goals on home ice against a Panthers squad that showed up in body but not in spirit. Pittsburgh's defense locked things down, their forwards finished, and Florida left town with nothing but regrets and a goose egg.
DarkHorse didn't touch this one with a published pick, which in hindsight looks like the smartest play of the night. Sometimes the best bet is no bet at all, and this snoozefest proved it.
