Penguins Survive Wild Shootout, Cover +1.5 in OT Thriller
The Penguins needed every second of regulation and then some, but they held on for a 6-5 win over Montreal and delivered the cover on DarkHorse's +1.5 puck-line pick. This one had no business being close—Pittsburgh raced out to early leads twice, only to watch the Canadiens claw back each time in a track meet that felt more like pond hockey than November NHL defense.
Credit where it's due: Jakub Dobes was supposed to be the difference-maker between the pipes, and while he posted that sparkling .929 in his debut, tonight he got shelled alongside everyone else. Murashov wasn't much better on the other end, but the Penguins had just enough firepower at home—and just enough rest after three days off—to outlast a Montreal squad that's now proven it can score but can't stop a nosebleed on the road.
The pick was always about Pittsburgh's cushion, not an outright win, and that logic held up perfectly. The Canadiens pushed it to the wire, but laying -1.5 against a rested home team was fool's gold from the jump. Puck-line underdogs continue to print, and this thriller was exhibit A. Penguins cover, DarkHorse cashes, and we move.
