Phillies Edge Marlins 6-5 as Sánchez Delivers, DarkHorse Cashes at -172

MLB

The Phillies squeaked past Miami 6-5 at Citizens Bank Park, and DarkHorse's -172 ticket on Philadelphia is in the green—barely, but a win's a win. Cristopher Sánchez did exactly what the model projected: he suppressed runs, kept the Marlins' bats quiet enough, and let his offense do the rest. The pitching mismatch we hammered all week materialized, with Sánchez's elite control and sub-2.60 ERA proving too much for a Miami lineup that couldn't string together enough against him early.

Janson Junk, fresh off the IL and sporting that bloated 4.41 ERA, was predictably hittable. The Phillies' middle order—Harper, Schwarber, and De La Cruz—feasted on fastballs in the zone, and Philadelphia's recent offensive surge (5.2 runs per game over their last 15) showed up when it mattered. The Marlins clawed back late to make it interesting, turning a comfortable lead into a nail-biter, but couldn't complete the comeback.

This wasn't a blowout, and the bullpen made us sweat, but the fundamentals held: elite starter versus replacement-level arm, home field, and a hot lineup. The 1.87 ERA gap between starters was the story, just as projected. DarkHorse called it, the Phillies delivered, and we move on to the next card.
