Phillies Take Care of Business in Anaheim, 5-2

MLB

The Phillies rolled into Angel Stadium and did exactly what a playoff-caliber club should do against a rebuilding squad—win with authority. Philadelphia's 5-2 victory over the Angels was never really in doubt, the kind of workmanlike road win that separates contenders from pretenders.

Philadelphia got on the board early and never looked back, building a comfortable cushion that allowed their bullpen to cruise through the late innings. The Angels managed just two runs, which tells you everything about how thoroughly the Phillies controlled this one from first pitch to last. When you're facing a Halos lineup that's been scuffling all season, you take advantage—and Philly did exactly that.

The Angels briefly threatened to make it interesting but couldn't string together enough quality at-bats when it mattered. Meanwhile, the Phillies' offense did just enough damage to keep the scoreboard ticking, spreading the wealth across the lineup rather than relying on one big inning.

This wasn't a statement win, but it didn't need to be. The Phillies showed up, executed their game plan, and grabbed two points on the road. Sometimes baseball is that simple. The Angels remain stuck in neutral while Philadelphia keeps stacking wins and eyeing October.
