Pirates Bats Go Silent as Dodgers Coast to 4-0 Shutout Victory

MLB

The Pirates limped into Chavez Ravine and promptly forgot how to hit a baseball, getting blanked 4-0 by a Dodgers squad that didn't even need to break a sweat. Pittsburgh's offense managed all the punch of a wet paper bag, squandering any chance to compete in what became a thoroughly one-sided affair.

Los Angeles did the damage early and often, building a cushion that never felt remotely threatened. The Dodgers' pitching staff carved through Pittsburgh's lineup like it was batting practice, stacking zeros on the scoreboard with ruthless efficiency. Meanwhile, LA's bats provided just enough pop to make this one comfortable from the middle innings onward.

The Pirates never mounted anything resembling a rally, stranding what few baserunners they managed to scrounge together. This wasn't a nail-biter or a hard-luck loss—it was a clinic in how not to show up on the road against a superior opponent.

Credit the Dodgers for executing the fundamentals: solid pitching, timely hitting, and zero drama. For Pittsburgh, it's another forgettable night in a season full of them. When you get shut out and never even threaten, there's not much to spin. The Bucs got handled, plain and simple. Four runs was more than enough, and the Pirates never came close to answering.
