Rams Edge Chargers in Preseason Finale as DarkHorse Nails the Under

NFL

The Rams squeaked past the Chargers 20-18 in a preseason finale that played out exactly as DarkHorse predicted—ugly, conservative, and mercifully low-scoring. Our under 39.5 cashed with room to spare as both sidelines treated this like the roster audition it was, not a real football game.

This one had all the hallmarks of preseason Week 3: starters got their token series before heading to the sideline with bubble wrap, backups tried not to get hurt, and offensive coordinators called plays like they were defusing bombs. The Rams' defense continued its preseason dominance, keeping the Chargers out of rhythm all night. Meanwhile, LA's offense did just enough to scratch across 20 points against a Chargers squad that clearly had one eye on roster cuts.

The 38-point total landed well short of the 39.5 number, validating our read that these teams would prioritize evaluation over execution. Justin Herbert's limited action meant the Chargers offense sputtered exactly as expected, and the Rams showed zero interest in opening up the playbook.

Preseason football is a different animal, and DarkHorse called it perfectly. When both teams are more worried about avoiding injuries than winning games, the under is practically printing money. Chalk up another W for The Stable.
