Rangers Demolish White Sox 11-2, Urquidy Gets Shelled in Brutal Fade

MLB

Well, that was embarrassing. The White Sox got absolutely steamrolled 11-2 at home, and our vaunted pitching advantage turned into a dumpster fire. José Urquidy, the guy we backed based on his sparkling 2.79 ERA and elite peripherals, got lit up like a Roman candle by a Rangers lineup that decided today was batting practice day.

So much for that 1.67 ERA gap mattering. Texas scored early and often, piling up runs against Urquidy and turning this one into a laugher before the South Side faithful could finish their second Old Style. The Rangers' offense, which we acknowledged was slightly better on paper, proved to be significantly better in reality when facing Chicago's supposedly dominant starter.

Kumar Rocker wasn't great either, but he didn't need to be—Texas did all the heavy lifting with the bats. The White Sox managed a measly two runs and looked completely overmatched from the first pitch. Home field advantage? Irrelevant. Elite K/9 rate? Didn't show up.

This is why you play the games. Sometimes a 2.79 ERA pitcher has a nightmare, and sometimes laying -140 on the wrong side makes you look like a genius in reverse. The Rangers made us look silly, plain and simple. Missed pick, no excuses.
