Rangers Get Steamrolled in Ottawa as Senators Light the Lamp Seven Times
The Rangers limped into Ottawa and got absolutely worked, dropping a 7-4 decision that was never really in doubt. The Senators put on an offensive clinic at home, turning Madison Square Garden's finest into traffic cones for sixty minutes of hockey that had Broadway fans reaching for the remote.
Seven goals against is a nightmare for any goaltender, and whoever was between the pipes for New York had no answers as Ottawa's attack came in waves. The Rangers managed four tallies themselves, so the offense showed up to play, but when you're surrendering seven, you're not winning many hockey games. This wasn't a goaltending duel or a defensive battle—this was a track meet, and the Senators had the better legs.
Credit to Ottawa for capitalizing on every opportunity and making the Rangers pay for their mistakes. New York's blue line looked porous, their gap control nonexistent, and by the time they tried mounting any sort of comeback, they were already down too many goals to matter.
The Stable didn't have a pick on this one, which in hindsight was probably wise. Sometimes you can smell a trap game from a mile away, and this had all the makings of a letdown spot for the Rangers. Final score: Senators 7, Rangers 4, and it wasn't even that close.
