Rangers Limp Into Phoenix, Get Torched 9-1 by Diamondbacks

MLB

The Diamondbacks turned Chase Field into a shooting gallery Tuesday night, dismantling the Rangers 9-1 in a game that was never remotely competitive. Arizona jumped on Texas early and never looked back, turning this one into batting practice by the middle innings.

Texas managed just a single run against Arizona's pitching staff, looking completely overmatched at the plate. Meanwhile, the Diamondbacks offense was firing on all cylinders, piling up runs and making Rangers pitchers look like they were throwing beach balls. By the time the dust settled, it was 9-1, and the only mystery was whether Texas would break into double-digit hits.

The Rangers came into the desert and got cooked—simple as that. Arizona controlled every phase of this game, from the first pitch to the final out. When you get boat-raced by eight runs, there's no sugarcoating it: you got your doors blown off.

DarkHorse didn't touch this one with a published pick, which in hindsight looks like the smart play. Sometimes the best bet is no bet, and watching Texas get demolished from the sidelines beats having money on that dumpster fire. Arizona's statement win; Texas needs to find answers fast.
