Rays Cash In as DarkHorse Rides the Home Favorite to Another Winner

MLB

The Rays took care of business at Tropicana Field, cruising past the Red Sox 5-1 and delivering another clean winner for DarkHorse backers who grabbed Tampa Bay at -150. This one played out exactly as the model projected: pitching differential was the story, and Boston's bats never showed up when it mattered.

Griffin Jax didn't need to be perfect—he just needed to be competent—and that 1.19 ERA edge over Patrick Sandoval proved decisive from the first pitch. The Red Sox managed a single run against a Rays staff that's been stingy at home, while Tampa Bay's offense did exactly what Junior Caminero and Jonathan Aranda have been doing all month: grinding quality at-bats and capitalizing when Sandoval inevitably leaked mistakes. Five runs was more than enough cushion.

Boston's 2-3 slide in their last five games now extends to 2-4, and you could see the fatigue after yesterday's narrow 2-1 loss. Meanwhile, Tampa Bay improves to 8-1 at home in recent action and pushes their hot streak to 9-2 in the last eleven. The 60% implied probability at -150 was borderline disrespectful—this was closer to a 70% proposition given the matchup dynamics. DarkHorse nailed the starter gap, nailed the venue advantage, and cashed accordingly. Onward.
