Game Recap
Real Salt Lake Stuns Sporting KC 3-1, Blows Past the Under
So much for dreadful scoring form. Real Salt Lake rolled into Children's Mercy Park and hung three goals on Sporting Kansas City in a 3-1 beatdown that made our under 3.5 look foolish by the final whistle. Four goals total means we missed, plain and simple.
The pre-match math was sound — RSL averaging a goal per game, SKC sputtering at home, key attackers sidelined on both sides. What we got instead was Real Salt Lake rediscovering their finishing boots at the worst possible moment for our ticket. Whether it was Sporting's backline falling asleep or RSL finally converting those underlying xG chances they'd been squandering, the floodgates opened when we needed them welded shut.
Sporting managed just one consolation goal, which tracks with their recent home struggles, but Real Salt Lake's three-spot completely torched the narrative. Sometimes teams in scoring droughts break out at the exact wrong time, and tonight was exhibit A. The market moved this line from 3.0 to 3.5 for a reason — sharps saw something we didn't, or RSL's attackers simply woke up after weeks of misfiring.
Tough loss. On to the next one.
