Red Sox Fall Flat in Arlington as Rangers Take 4-2 Victory

MLB

The Red Sox limped into Arlington and left with exactly what they deserved: a 4-2 loss that felt even more lopsided than the scoreline suggests. Texas controlled this one from the jump, building an early cushion that Boston's anemic offense never seriously threatened.

The Rangers did the little things right—manufacturing runs when it mattered, getting timely hits with runners in scoring position, and keeping Boston's lineup off balance all night. Meanwhile, the Red Sox looked like a team going through the motions, managing just two runs against a Texas pitching staff that's been far from dominant this season. That's simply not good enough if you're trying to stay relevant in the playoff hunt.

Boston's bats went ice cold when they needed to heat up, stranding runners and failing to capitalize on the few opportunities Texas handed them. The Rangers' bullpen locked things down late, snuffing out any hope of a comeback.

DarkHorse didn't touch this one with a published pick, and honestly? Smart move. This game had trap written all over it—two inconsistent teams playing sloppy baseball. Texas earned the win, but neither squad looked particularly impressive. The Red Sox need to figure things out fast, or they'll be watching October from home.
