Rockies Stun Giants 5-2 as Freeland Flips the Script on Oracle Park

MLB

Well, that's egg on our face. The Rockies waltzed into Oracle Park and clowned the Giants 5-2, making our Giants -126 play look foolish in the process. Kyle Freeland, whom we pegged with that ghastly 6.63 ERA, apparently decided today was the day to remember he's a major league pitcher. He silenced a Giants lineup we expected to capitalize on Colorado's road woes, and suddenly that 2.41 ERA advantage for Landen Roupp meant absolutely nothing.

Colorado's bats did the rest. They jumped on Roupp early and often, turning that "modest value" we touted into a lesson in humility. The Rockies pushed across five runs while their pitching staff held San Francisco to just two, completely flipping the expected script. That W2 streak we downplayed as mere narrative? Turns out it was real momentum, and their 3-6 road record was just begging for correction.

Home field advantage is supposed to mean something, especially at 54% baseline. Not today. The Giants couldn't solve Freeland, couldn't string together rallies, and left us holding a losing ticket. Sometimes the numbers lie, and sometimes a struggling road team with a struggling starter just decides to ball out. Colorado extends their win streak to three, and we're left wondering if we should've respected that momentum after all.
