Royals Drop Tight One in LA as Pitchers Flip the Script on Our Over Call

MLB

Well, that's baseball for you. The Dodgers squeaked past Kansas City 4-2 in a game that had all the makings of a slugfest but turned into a pitcher's duel nobody saw coming. We hammered the OVER 9.0, banking on Eric Lauer's bloated 6.69 ERA to get shelled and the Dodgers' walking-wounded bullpen to cough up late runs. Instead, both starters decided to cosplay as Cy Young candidates for a night, and six total runs barely moved the needle.

The Dodgers did just enough offensively to cash their moneyline backers, but this one stayed frustratingly quiet all evening. Kansas City couldn't manufacture the big inning we needed, and LA's supposedly compromised relief corps—missing Treinen, Phillips, and Graterol—held serve when it mattered. Sometimes the injury report and ERA splits scream one thing, and the baseball gods laugh in your face.

Credit where it's due: the pitching on both sides showed up when we least expected it. But when you're staring at a combined four runs and your ticket needs nine, moral victories don't pay the bills. Tough miss on the over, but we'll be back tomorrow with sharper aim. The numbers made sense; the execution just didn't cooperate.
