Royals Snatch One-Run Win in Detroit, DarkHorse Cashes the Runline

MLB

The Royals walked into Comerica Park and gutted out a 5-4 victory over the Tigers, handing us a clean runline winner at +1.5. Kansas City didn't just cover—they won outright as road dogs, which makes the -126 juice look even sweeter in hindsight.

DarkHorse flagged this one because the pitching matchup was a wash—Valdez and Avila separated by less than half a run in ERA—and Detroit's bullpen was running on fumes after eight games in seven days. Turns out fatigue is real. The Tigers kept it close, but close doesn't cut checks when you're laying -190 on the moneyline with a taxed pen and no dominant starter to lean on.

The Royals did exactly what we needed: stayed within striking distance and capitalized late. Whether they scraped across five runs on small ball or caught a mistake pitch doesn't matter—the scoreboard says 5-4, and the runline says HIT. Detroit's 3.60 team ERA looked good on paper, but paper doesn't pitch the eighth inning on short rest.

This is why we hunt value in tight matchups. The market overpriced Detroit's home edge, underpriced Kansas City's ability to hang around, and we cashed accordingly. Onto the next.
