Seahawks-Commanders Shootout Torches the Under in 33-31 Barn Burner

Well, so much for elite defense and backup quarterback struggles. The Seahawks and Commanders combined for 64 points in a wild 33-31 Washington win that obliterated DarkHorse's under 40.0 pick by a country mile. Turns out that "dominant" Seattle defense that supposedly allowed just 8.5 points per game forgot to show up at FedEx Field, while Washington's backup signal-caller clearly didn't get the memo about being overmatched.

The Commanders' offense, which we expected to sputter without Jayden Daniels and with an injured offensive line, somehow hung 33 points on a unit we hyped as impenetrable. Seattle's attack wasn't exactly conservative either, dropping 31 in what became a track meet nobody saw coming. So much for Washington averaging a meager 21 points per game—they blew past that mark and then some.

The under needed one team to play defense. Neither obliged. Seattle's desperation to cover an 8-point spread apparently meant opening up the playbook, while the Commanders' home desperation translated into points, not punts. The final two-point margin suggests this one went down to the wire, and every possession mattered in a game that should've been a defensive slog. Instead, we got Big 12 football in the NFL. Swing and a miss on this one.
