Sharks Shock Saros, Hand Predators Another Home Loss
Well, that goaltending edge sure looked good on paper. The Sharks waltzed into Bridgestone Arena and stole two points, downing the Predators 3-2 in a result that makes our -135 recommendation look about as sharp as a butter knife. Juuse Saros was supposed to be the difference-maker with his superior numbers, but San Jose's supposedly overmatched offense found enough cracks to send Nashville to yet another frustrating home defeat.
The Predators are now a miserable 2-5 and can't buy a win on their own ice, which is becoming a legitimate crisis in Music City. Meanwhile, Yaroslav Askarov—the kid we basically wrote off with that ugly .848 save percentage—stood tall enough when it mattered for a Sharks squad that somehow keeps finding ways to compete despite allowing nearly four goals per game. The final score doesn't tell you this was some defensive masterclass from San Jose, but they capitalized on their chances while Nashville couldn't finish.
Sometimes the numbers lie, or at least don't tell the whole story when pucks are bouncing sideways. The goaltending matchup favored Nashville substantially on paper, but hockey is played on ice, not spreadsheets. The Predators desperately need to figure out their home woes before this season spirals completely out of control.
