Spurs Bench Mob Torches Suns, Blows Past 224.5 in Preseason Stunner
The Spurs absolutely torched the Suns 123-103 in a preseason blowout that made our under 224.5 look foolish from tip-off. We projected offensive inefficiency with San Antonio resting their top four usage guys and Phoenix sitting Booker and Bridges. Instead, we got 226 combined points and a San Antonio bench party that wouldn't quit.
The logic was sound—stars sit, camp bodies struggle, totals crater. Except someone forgot to tell the Spurs' deep rotation they were supposed to play like camp bodies. San Antonio's reserves came out firing, building separation early and never letting Phoenix back in it. The 20-point margin suggests one team simply refused to play preseason basketball, pushing pace and finishing at the rim like it was opening night.
Phoenix couldn't match the energy or execution, falling behind early and staying there. The Suns managed just 103 despite the wide-open rotations, but it didn't matter—San Antonio's 123 single-handedly buried the under.
Preseason totals usually trend low when stars rest. This one sprinted the opposite direction, and we got caught flatfooted. The pick missed by 1.5 points in a game that never felt close. Sometimes the bench wants to impress, and sometimes they impress a little too well.
