Suns Survive Preseason Grind as DarkHorse Under Cashes Easy
The Suns edged the Spurs 102-98 in a preseason slog that played out exactly as advertised—and DarkHorse's under 222.5 sailed home with room to spare. The 200-point final was never in doubt once rotations tightened and camp bodies started chucking up bricks in garbage time.
Phoenix built a workable cushion through three quarters before both benches emptied and the game devolved into the offensive wasteland we predicted. San Antonio's injury-depleted rotation couldn't generate consistent looks, and while the Spurs kept it competitive late, neither side had the firepower or motivation to push this thing over the number. The Suns' starters did just enough before checking out; the Spurs' depth pieces couldn't buy a bucket when it mattered.
This was textbook preseason math. You had limited star minutes, day-to-day absences gutting both rotations, and zero incentive to run real offense past the third quarter. DarkHorse nailed the situational read—camp evaluations don't produce efficient basketball, and 200 total points in an October exhibition is about right when nobody's game-planning and half the floor is fighting for roster spots. The under was never sweating, and anyone who tailed it spent the fourth quarter watching the clock run out on an easy winner.
