Tigers Get Bulldozed in Minneapolis as Melton Implodes, DarkHorse Pick Torched

MLB

Well, that was ugly. The Tigers limped into Target Field riding Troy Melton's supposed "elite dominance" and promptly got their doors blown off, 15-2. So much for that 1.86 ERA and massive pitching advantage — Melton got shelled like it was batting practice, and the Twins made sure everyone in Minneapolis heard about it.

DarkHorse backed Detroit at -122, banking on Melton's sub-2.00 ERA to overcome Andrew Morris and Minnesota's home momentum. Instead, Morris cruised while Melton's night went sideways in a hurry. The Twins, fresh off an 11-1 demolition the day before, kept the bats scorching hot and turned this one into a laugher before most fans finished their second beer. Fifteen runs. Two for the Tigers. That's not a pitching mismatch — that's a massacre.

The pick missed spectacularly, and the reasoning collapsed under the weight of reality: sometimes "elite" numbers meet a hot lineup in a bandbox, and momentum matters more than spreadsheets suggest. The Twins proved yesterday's blowout was no fluke, and the Tigers proved that even your ace can lay an egg when nothing goes right. Betting the road dog against a rolling home squad? Tough lesson learned. Minnesota moves on; Detroit slinks out of town licking its wounds.
