Tigers Get Steamrolled at Wrigley, DarkHorse Pick Crumbles in 11-2 Shellacking

MLB

Well, that was ugly. The Cubs absolutely demolished our Tigers pick, turning Wrigley into a shooting gallery with an 11-2 beatdown that wasn't even as close as the score suggests.

Our entire thesis hinged on a pitching matchup that apparently existed only in an alternate dimension. The write-up mentioned Framber Valdez and Ethan Roberts—neither of whom pitched in this game, rendering our "meaningful pitching edge" completely meaningless. Whatever arms actually took the mound for Detroit got shelled mercilessly while Chicago's supposedly decimated staff carved through the Tigers lineup like a hot knife through butter.

So much for that 7-2 road record and superior team ERA. The Tigers' bats went silent when it mattered, managing just two runs while their pitching staff hemorrhaged 11. The Cubs' offense exploded despite all those injury concerns we'd factored in, proving once again that baseball has a cruel sense of humor.

The -105 price looked like value based on our projections. Instead, it was fool's gold. When your foundational assumptions about who's even playing turn out wrong, no amount of sharp analysis saves you. The Cubs won going away, our pick crashed and burned, and The Stable takes another loss on the chin. Onto the next one.
