Game Recap
Timberwolves Cruise, But the Over Gets Buried in a Defensive Slog
Well, that pace environment theory just got stomped into the Target Center hardwood. The Timberwolves handled business with a comfortable 117-94 win over the Raptors, but our over 232.5 didn't just miss—it got absolutely demolished by 27 points.
Minnesota did their part, putting up 117 exactly as their early-season form suggested they could. The problem? Toronto's offense completely vanished, managing just 94 points after supposedly averaging 123+ through two games. That "positive regression" we expected from their three-point shooting never materialized when it mattered. Instead of the combined 246-plus points those elite offensive efficiency numbers promised, we got 211 and a whole lot of brick-laying from the visitors.
The Timberwolves controlled this wire-to-wire, turning what should've been an up-tempo shootout into a one-sided clinic. That vaunted pace matchup—109.7 possessions for Toronto, 104.5 for Minnesota—apparently meant nothing when the Raptors couldn't buy a bucket. Sometimes those tiny two-game samples are actually telling you something real about defensive capability, not just statistical noise. Minnesota's sub-100 PPG allowed looked legit tonight, at least against a Raptors squad that forgot their offense in customs. Brutal miss on our end, no sugarcoating it.
