Twins Offense Wakes Up, Sends Braves Packing 4-2

MLB

The Braves came to Minneapolis armed with Martín Pérez and that shiny 2.96 ERA, ready to exploit Bailey Ober's mediocrity. Instead, they're heading home with a loss and our pick is toast at -118. Final score: Twins 4, Braves 2.

So much for that 1.68 ERA advantage mattering. Ober didn't need to be spectacular—he just needed Minnesota's bats to show up, and for once, they did. The Twins' offense, supposedly ice-cold at 3.93 runs per game over their last 15, found enough punch to plate four against Atlanta's "superior pitching staff." Whether Pérez got touched up early or the bullpen leaked late, the result is the same: the road favorite got handled at Target Field.

We leaned hard on pitching metrics and recent form, banking on the Braves' 10-5 run continuing and the Twins staying dormant. Classic case of the numbers looking perfect on paper while the scoreboard tells a different story. Home field advantage? Turns out it still matters, especially when the home nine decides to actually hit.

The Twins capitalized when it counted, the Braves couldn't manufacture enough offense, and that modest -118 price feels a lot steeper when you're cashing an L. Sometimes the cold offense thaws at exactly the wrong time.
