Twins Outlast White Sox 6-4 in South Side Slugfest

MLB

The Twins took care of business at Guaranteed Rate Field, edging the White Sox 6-4 in a game that was closer than Minnesota would've liked. This one had all the makings of a comfortable road win until Chicago decided to make things interesting down the stretch.

Minnesota built their cushion early and managed to hold serve despite the White Sox chipping away. Credit the Twins' offense for doing enough damage when it mattered, because their bullpen wasn't exactly airtight in the late innings. Chicago showed some pulse with a rally attempt, but ultimately came up short when the final out was recorded.

The White Sox are what they are this season—scrappy enough to keep games within reach, rarely good enough to actually steal them. They pushed across four runs and made Minnesota sweat a bit, but moral victories don't show up in the standings. For the Twins, this was a workmanlike performance on the road against an inferior opponent. You take the W and move on.

DarkHorse stayed off this one entirely, which was probably wise given how unpredictable both these clubs can be on any given night. Sometimes the smartest play is no play at all. Twins improve their record, White Sox add another tally to the loss column. Business as usual on the South Side.
