Twins Survive Nine-Run Slugfest, Cash DarkHorse Ticket at -144

MLB

The Twins took care of business at home, outlasting Oakland 11-8 in a game that had more offense than anyone scripted. DarkHorse's pick on Minnesota at -144 cashed comfortably, and the reasoning held up where it mattered most: starting pitching advantage and home-field dominance.

Joe Ryan wasn't exactly dealing vintage stuff—eight runs allowed will never look pretty in the box score—but he gave the Twins enough length to let their bats take over. And take over they did. Minnesota's lineup exploited Jeffrey Springs exactly as projected, turning that 2.58 ERA gap into real runs on the board. Springs got shelled, the Oakland bullpen offered no resistance, and the Athletics' punchless road offense (2.09 runs per game coming in) suddenly woke up for eight—still not enough.

The Twins' home splits (now 6-3) continue to separate them from Oakland's road disaster class, and this one played true to form despite the fireworks. Minnesota led wire-to-wire in spirit if not always on the scoreboard, controlling pace and capitalizing when it counted.

Sure, it got messy. Sure, Ryan gave up more than expected. But a win's a win, and when you're laying -144 on a team that scores 3.12 per game at home against a squad that allows 5.91 on the road, you take your money and move on. Twins backers, collect your tickets.
