UFC Fight Night: Allen vs. Duncan – Middleweight Heat in the APEX
The APEX gets a proper middleweight scrap Saturday night when Brendan Allen puts his 27-7 record on the line against Christian Leroy Duncan's 15-2 slate. Allen's been around the block – seven losses means he's seen adversity and kept climbing. Duncan's cleaner ledger suggests he's still in the prospect-to-contender transition, but two defeats tell you someone's already tested his chin and his will. This is the classic veteran-savvy versus hungry-upstart dynamic, and at 185 pounds, someone's getting slept or submitted.
The rest of this card? It's a proper APEX grinder with enough variance to make your parlay sweat. RJ Harris brings an undefeated 6-0 into heavyweight waters against Allen Frye Jr.'s 6-1, and zero-loss heavyweights are either about to announce themselves or get baptized – no middle ground. Daria Zhelezniakova's 10-3 versus Alice Pereira's 7-1 at women's bantamweight is another prospect collision worth watching; someone's hype train derails here.
Niko Price at 16-11 facing Leon Shahbazyan's 12-5 is the kind of welterweight chaos Price specializes in – he's been finished plenty, but he's also starched plenty. Shahbazyan's record suggests competence but not dominance; Price could make this ugly or make it spectacular. Ismael Bonfim's 20-7 against Francisco Prado's 12-5 at lightweight has the makings of a technical firefight if both show up sharp.
The women's flyweight opener between Ernesta Kareckaite (6-2-1) and Melissa Gatto (9-3-2) carries some intrigue – Gatto's got more miles and more draws, which in WMMA often means she's been in wars. Andre Fili's 25-14 veteran presence against Kai Kamaka III's 18-8-1 is the featherweight "who wants it more" test, and Gerald Meerschaert's absurd 37-22 record against Julius Walker's 7-3 is pure grappling roulette – Meerschaert's been submitted and he's submitted legends; bet accordingly.
This isn't a pay-per-view spectacular, but it's a card where live dogs could eat. Circle the heavyweights, trust the middleweights to deliver, and maybe sprinkle something on Price to do Price things.
