UFC Fight Night: Rosas Jr. Faces Toughest Test Yet Against Veteran Barcelos at APEX

UFC

The UFC rolls into the APEX on September 26th with a bantamweight-heavy card headlined by the sport's most hyped teenager finally stepping up in class. Raul Rosas Jr. (12-1) has steamrolled his way through developmental competition, but Raoni Barcelos (22-5) represents a quantum leap in opposition—a seasoned veteran with over two decades of professional fights who's seen every trick in the book. The oddsmakers will tell you plenty about whether Rosas Jr.'s hype train has brakes, but this is the first legitimate litmus test for the prodigy's ceiling.

The co-main pits Montel Jackson (15-4) against Ricky Simon (22-7-1) in a bantamweight scrap that should answer questions about both fighters' trajectories. Simon's experience edge is substantial, but Jackson's been quietly building momentum. This one likely comes down to whether Simon's veteran savvy can neutralize Jackson's athleticism over fifteen minutes.

Norma Dumont (13-3) versus Ailin Perez (13-2) at women's bantamweight offers a fascinating stylistic puzzle. Dumont's record suggests consistency; Perez's suggests she's still finding her footing at this level. The smart money watches how Dumont's striking holds up against Perez's pressure.

The sleeper banger? Brady Hiestand (9-2) versus Rinya Nakamura (10-1) at bantamweight. Nakamura's pristine record screams prospect, but Hiestand's been around long enough to play spoiler. This could be the upset special if you're hunting value.

Elsewhere, undefeated Melissa Amaya (8-0) gets her toughest test against the far more experienced Valesca Machado (15-4) at strawweight. Mehemmedeli Osmanli (12-1) takes on Ilimbek Akylbek Uulu (10-3) in what promises to be a bantamweight grappling clinic, while Josiah Harrell (11-1) looks to prove his record isn't padded against Elves Brener (16-6) at lightweight.

The undercard rounds out with veteran Rodolfo Vieira (11-5) trying to right the ship against Robert Bryczek (18-7), and Vanessa Demopoulos (11-8) facing off with Yazmin Jauregui (11-2) in a strawweight bout that could steal the show if both come to scrap.

It's a workmanlike APEX card, but the main event delivers genuine intrigue.
