Game Recap
Warriors Beat Magic 126-119 and Cash the -6.5
Golden State won 126-119 at home and covered Warriors -6.5 by a half-point cushion. Seven points is a narrow cover, but a cover is a cover, and this one goes in the win column.
The read going in was that both teams had identical rest, three games in seven days, so the edge had to come from scoring profile and availability. Golden State's offense grades out well ahead of Orlando's on efficiency, 117.0 points per 100.7 possessions against 105.7 on 99.8. Orlando was also without Paolo Banchero and Jalen Suggs, and it had dropped six of its last ten, scoring 105.5 and allowing 115.0 in that stretch.
Orlando still put up 119, which is well above its season-long scoring average. That's the part a skeptic will point to, and it's fair. The Magic didn't roll over, and the Warriors needed to finish the job to keep the margin above the number. They did, just barely.
Our projection called for a margin of roughly 7 to 9 points, and the final landed at the bottom of that range. The side hit, but the model's cushion was thinner than the headline suggests. Good process, tight result, and a reminder that the number is never a lock.
