White Sox Bats Go Silent as Braves Blank Chicago 2-0

MLB

Well, that was ugly. The White Sox couldn't muster a single run at home, dropping a lifeless 2-0 decision to the Braves and sending our ML pick straight into the shredder. So much for that 5.3 runs-per-game recent form—Chicago's offense looked more like 0.0 against Grant Holmes and the Atlanta pen.

Holmes wasn't dominant, but he didn't need to be. The Braves starter worked efficiently enough to keep the White Sox off the board, and the bullpen slammed the door from there. Meanwhile, Anthony Kay and company couldn't contain Atlanta's modest attack, surrendering two runs that might as well have been twenty given how anemic Chicago's bats were. The Braves snapped their three-game skid by playing fundamental baseball while the White Sox sleepwalked through nine innings.

Here's the brutal truth: recent form means nothing when you forget how to hit. That 2-0 season series edge? Irrelevant when you can't score. Home field advantage? Worthless when your lineup looks lost. The market had this as a coin-flip, and we leaned into Chicago's supposed momentum. Instead, we got a shutout loss that wasn't even competitive. The Braves did exactly what good teams do—they showed up, executed, and took care of business against a squad that had no answers.
