White Sox Pitching Edge Evaporates as Astros Roll 4-1

MLB

So much for that Sean Burke advantage. The Astros strolled into Chicago and dismantled the White Sox 4-1, making our -130 play look foolish in the process. Burke's "elite profile" lasted exactly as long as it took Houston to scratch across runs in the second and third innings, building a cushion they'd never relinquish. Hunter Brown, the guy we faded for his 4.05 ERA and bloated WHIP, cruised through six innings of one-run ball while Burke's supposed 0.85 ERA edge proved meaningless when the lights came on.

The Astros extended their win streak to five games, and suddenly that 3-4 road record feels like ancient history. Houston's lineup did just enough damage early, then let Brown and the bullpen slam the door. Chicago managed one measly run and couldn't generate any sustained pressure after the early innings. Burke wasn't terrible, but he wasn't the difference-maker we needed him to be, and the White Sox offense provided zero support.

This one stings because the pitching matchup looked so clean on paper. Sometimes the numbers lie, sometimes the better team just wins. Today, Houston reminded us they're still the Astros, and we're left holding a losing ticket on a South Side squad that couldn't capitalize on home cooking.
