Wild's Back-to-Back Fatigue Sinks DarkHorse Pick as Jets Roll 5-2
The Wild limped into Winnipeg on zero rest and got exactly what tired legs deserve: a 5-2 shellacking that made our ML pick look foolish by the second period. So much for that vaunted 1.83 GAA — Minnesota's defensive structure evaporated against a Jets squad that's been leaky at home but found their scoring touch when it mattered. Winnipeg jumped ahead early and never looked back, turning this into a statement win that exposed the fatal flaw in our handicap: you can't scheme around exhaustion.
We leaned hard on Minnesota's recent form and road defensive discipline, figuring their two-game win streak and stingy 2.0 road GAA would travel even on a back-to-back. Wrong. The Jets, supposedly vulnerable at 3.67 goals allowed per home game, flipped the script and put five past a Wild team that had nothing left in the tank. Winnipeg's offense clicked in all the ways we expected Minnesota's defense to suffocate, and by the time the Wild mustered two consolation tallies, this one was long decided.
Lesson learned: rest trumps trends. The market had this as a coin-flip for a reason, and we got cute thinking structure could overcome fatigue. It couldn't. Jets 5, Wild 2. Pick missed. Moving on.
