Yamamoto Delivers, Dodgers Cash at -172 in Low-Scoring Affair

MLB

The Stable rides again. DarkHorse's Dodgers -172 pick hit exactly as the model projected, with Yoshinobu Yamamoto justifying every cent of that juice in a workmanlike 3-1 victory over Milwaukee at Chavez Ravine.

Yamamoto was the story, plain and simple. The right-hander carved through the Brewers' lineup with surgical precision, validating that 2.65 ERA and 0.89 WHIP we leaned on pre-game. Robert Gasser? He showed exactly why that 4.57 ERA had us fading Milwaukee in the first place. The 1.92 ERA gap between starters wasn't just a number on paper—it was the entire ballgame.

The Dodgers manufactured just enough offense to get home, plating three runs while their ace did the heavy lifting. Milwaukee managed only a single tally, never threatening to flip the script despite their superior recent form heading in. Turns out a 6-4 last-ten record doesn't mean much when you're sending a below-average arm against one of baseball's nastiest pitchers on his home mound.

The implied 62.0% win probability looked conservative in hindsight. This was elite pitching meeting mediocre pitching, and the result was never really in doubt. Yamamoto's dominance turned a back-to-back scheduling spot into a non-factor. Sometimes the model just nails it, and Wednesday night was one of those times.
