Yankees Roll Past Rockies as Warren Shuts the Door on DarkHorse's Spread Hope

MLB

The Yankees dismantled the Rockies 6-1 at the Stadium, and our Rockies +1.5 pick never had a pulse. So much for Will Warren's supposed inability to suppress runs — the right-hander carved through Colorado's lineup like it was batting practice, holding them to one measly run while the Bronx bats did exactly what we worried they wouldn't: show up without their stars and still dominate.

We leaned on Colorado's recent offensive competence (6.6 runs per game over five) and the absence of Judge and Soto from New York's projected lineup. Turns out the Yankees' depth chart doesn't need MVPs to beat up on a Rockies squad that looked nothing like the team that had been scoring. That .79-.85 OPS from Carrigg, Rumfield, and Goodman? Invisible when it mattered.

The five-run margin made our +1.5 look foolish. Warren's 4.16 ERA suggested vulnerability; instead, he pitched like an ace while Tomoyuki Sugano's 5.19 ERA proved prophetic — the Yankees teed off. The "near-even" market probability and historical 60% cover rate for away dogs meant nothing when Colorado's bats went silent and Warren decided to have his best outing of the season.

Sometimes the underdog barks. Tonight, the Rockies whimpered. Miss.
