Bears limp into Carolina with more questions than answers in Week 1 tilt

The Bears head to Charlotte for a Sunday opener that the market can't quite figure out—and neither can we, entirely. Chicago averaged nearly 26 points per game last season while Carolina scraped by at 18, but those 2025 rosters are ancient history now. Personnel turnover, new schemes, and the usual Week 1 chaos make last year's box scores about as useful as a screen door on a submarine.

Here's what matters: Carolina gets three points at home, and home cooking is worth every bit of that in September. The line movement tells a story, too—Chicago's road moneyline drifted from -175 to -165 while the Panthers tightened from +145 to +140, a telltale sign that sharps are sniffing value on the home dog. Add in the fact that Tyson Bagent and Rome Odunze are both questionable for the Bears, and you've got an offense that might stumble out of the gate like a newborn giraffe.

The market essentially calls this a coin flip, yet we're getting a field goal with the home side. In a game this tight, that's gold. Take the Panthers +3 and let the Bears prove they're road warriors before we anoint them. Week 1 is for fading assumptions, and Chicago's got plenty of those right now.
